REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – A Filipino American teen, who is now out of the hospital, is still recovering from a Dec. 3 baseball bat attack that occurred after he tried to sell hoverboards — or self-balancing scooters — to a group of teens in Elk Grove, Calilf.
Sam Santos told local media that while his mother waited in the car, he and his brother opened the trunk to show the hoverboards to the teens — when all of a sudden he got hit by a bat.
Hoverboards are priced between $250 to $400 and can be attractive items for thieves — especially during the holiday season.
One of the suspects, Jourdan Ware, turned himself in to authorities but is now out on bail.
Authorities are still looking for two other suspects.
Anyone with information on the suspects can the Elk Grove Police Department at (916) 478-8060.
