Fil-Am arrested for attempts to lure high school girls into car

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Police have arrested 26-year-old Frederick Cayabyab for multiple attempts to lure female students into his vehicle outside El Camino and South San Francisco High Schools.

According to South San Francisco Police, Cayabyab was outside El Camino High School between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. last Thursday Aug. 27.

It was also reported that Cayabyab attempted to lure additional victims into restrooms inside the schools.

An assistant principal at El Camino High School noticed Cayabyab to be out of place and approached him. Cayabyab fled the school in his vehicle; however, the assistant principal was able to obtain the license plate number.

Police found and arrested Cayabyab at his San Francisco home a day later.

He was arrested on suspicion of four felony and six misdemeanor child annoyance-related incidents and booked into the Maguire County Correctional Facility in Redwood City on $200,000 bail.

Even though Cayabyab was unsuccessful and the girls he approached reported the encounters, Pinoy high school students were still shocked to hear a fellow kababayan had been lurking by their schools.

“From El Camino, I’ve never seen or heard of someone doing that before,” said CJ Bautista.

“I feel, in general, I’m not safe but then even though they caught one there are still others out there so you never know,” said Aliyah San Juan.

“I feel we have to stick together when I heard something like this happening,” said Rence Dimalanta.

“That’s a disappointment to us Filipinos,” said Jenny Mendoza.

Authorities find that Cayabyab is responsible for all of the reported cases that took place last Thursday and they are currently looking into whether he was responsible for a similar incident at a middle school earlier in August.
