Federal judge denies retrial for Pinoy convicted of terrorism

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – There will be second trial for the Philippine national convicted of terrorism in the United States.

A federal judge has denied Ralph DeLeon’s motion a new trial.

The Philippine born DeLeon, a recent Islamic convert, unsuccessfully asked for a retrial, claiming that he was not allowed to use entrapment as a defense during last year’s jury trial.

However, the court has ruled that there were no errors in the way they allowed DeLeon to present his case.

DeLeon is scheduled to be sentenced later this month.

He faces the possibility of a lifetime prison sentence.

Nothing is ever consistent when it comes to models justice, today it
It could be the due process model where a person is considered innocent until
Proven guilty. Tomorrow it could be the law enforcement model where
a person is considered guilty when the evidence is overwhelming
