Whittier, Calif – For the past few days, friends and family have been mourning the tragic death of a young Fil-Am. Obette Reyes Lacap was a traveling pharmaceutical representative. While on his daily route in Yucca Valley on May 9th, police believe he was shot dead in his vehicle during an attempted carjacking…his body was found slumped over his steering wheel.

“He could’ve been anywhere, his territory was huge, he could’ve been in any city, seeing any doctor of his choice, but he just happened to be in that one town seeing that one doctor where this thing took place,” said his fiancé Ivy Huang.

The suspects, Bryan Snyder Valle and Jose Eduardo Guzman, both 19 years old from the Bakersfield area then allegedly led police on a high speed chase, ending in a shoot out in San Bernardino.

One California Highway patrol officer was injured while Valle was killed in the gun battle.
Lacap, whose family hails from Pampanga, had been working for drug company Pfizer for the past 9 years. He was planning on marrying Huang, his girlfriend of 7 years next April.
“He loved music, he loved telling jokes and played piano. He made his family his friends,” said his sister Clenette Lacap Pantanella.
The second suspect, Guzman, remains in the hospital and has not yet been booked by the Sam Bernardino Sheriff’s department.

There has been no word yet from officials on when the surviving suspect will begin the judicial proceedings. The Lacap family said that they will be following the case closely, hoping to see that justice is served.
