UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif – Eddie Angeles is flying high after his appointed to associate administrator to airports by the Federal Aviation Administration.
In his new post, Angeles will oversee the countries airports, its regulations and $3.5 billion worth of grant money that funds the airports.
“The FAA’s primary responsibility is always safety and security,” Angeles explained. “We have to keep the passengers who are using the airport obviously safe and secure. I intend to continue to pursue that and improve technologies.”
Born in Pasig, Angeles moved to San Francisco at age 7. With his humble beginnings, he eventually went to school at the University of California Santa Barbara and took up law at the University of California Hastings School of Law.
He has gone on to various city attorney positions from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
“It’s a tremendous honor particularly for someone who’s an immigrant, someone who’s raised by a single mom, came to this country with a dream. I’ve already fulfilled a lot of those dreams by becoming a lawyer and achieving the kinds of success that I’ve enjoyed. But to get a presidential appointment, it just places a tremendous exclamation mark on that American dream,” he said.
Angeles has had experience with the airports he served as legal council for Los Angeles World Airports prior to his current job at the LA City Attorneys office.
He will begin his duties in the FAA in Washington DC this July.
