Ex-boyfriend of missing Virginia Beach woman charged with second-degree murder
A devastating development in the case of a missing Filipina mother from Virginia Beach. Authorities have confirmed that Bellamy Gamboa is dead, and that her ex-boyfriend may have killed her.
Gamboa, who would have turned 40 on July 16, had been missing since July 1st.
On the same day, her ex-boyfriend — and the father of her young twins — 41-year old Lamont Johnson told the police he saw her leaving their apartment they shared with their children.
Authorities said Johnson was developed as a suspect during the course of their investigation.
On Sunday, he was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, and four counts of contributing to the delinquency or abuse of a child. He is being held without bond.
Police said they are looking in an area of the Chesapeake Bay to find Gamboa’s remains.
While Gamboa’s family have declined media requests for comment on Johnson’s arrest, her close friend, Taunya Terrell-Bell, posted this message for the suspect on Facebook: “Can we have her back now please… haven’t we all suffered enough.”
