MANILA – President Benigno Aquino III says he does not mind giving humanitarian considerations to one of the most high profile senators charged in connection to the pork barrel scandal — 90-year-old Juan Ponce Enrile.

Aquino says the Sandiganbayan, or the Philippines’ version of the Court of Appeals, would consider Enrile’s old age and frail condition in making a decision whether to detain him or not, once a warrant of arrest is issued against him.

Some Philippine senators have already called for the Sandiganbayan to grant Enrile hospital arrest based on humanitarian reasons.

The Philippine National Police General Hospital inside Camp Crame is being readied for Enrile if the need arises.

The other two most high profile senators charged with graft and plunder, Senators Jinggoy Estrada and Bong Revilla Jr, have already been detained in special detention cells in Camp Crame.

Both camps have already complained that the cells are too hot and have a pending court request that an air-cooler be put in the cells.
