NEW YORK — The 100th anniversary of Philippine cinema is being celebrated in the Philippines in a big way through Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino, which will run in the country until September 19th.
One of the film festival’s entries is “Circa,” starring kapamilya actor Enchong Dee.
In turn, support is what the 30-year old actor gives to Filipino kids by providing free swimming lessons through his non-profit organization, “Handog Palangoy ni Enchong.”
By teaching children basic skills, the former swimming champ aims to give them survival skills, and instill in them a love of water… a love that, he said, will always stay with him.
“It’s probably my longest relationship, at the same time, so I like to keep it that way. I always look back to it because swimming gave me so much of who I am right now. I keep on saying in interviews that Philippines is a country that’s surrounded by water. And everyone, everyone should know how to swim.”
Through his showbiz projects, Dee said he’s happy to able to provide resources in his own way towards something that benefits his fellow Filipinos.
