LOS ANGELES, Calif–Kapamilya star Jericho Rosales is making his way around the film festival circuit in the U.S.

Rosales is taking “Alagwa” (Breakaway) to the Prestigious Palm Springs international film festival in Southern California.

The film, which he co-produced, is based on a true story of a dad searching for his son who is a victim of human trafficking.

“It tells a great story about a father who lost his son after he was kidnapped and brought to Hong Kong. It discovers dark things about human trafficking,” explained Rosales, who also plays the lead star in the film.

Rosales has been shining at international film festivals. In 2011, he was named best actor at the Newport Beach Film Festival for his role in “Subject I Love You.”

Though it wasn’t entered into any of the competitive categories at the Busan Film Festival in Korea, American newspaper Hollywood Reporter called Alagwa the best of the fest.

The 33-year old Rosales, now on his 17th year in show business, said he still has his eyes set on Hollywood and believes the independent route can help him break into the international scene.

He said, “Indie is the way to go, because these kinds of films get recognition in different international film festivals. This is a way to show the artistry of actors like me.”

Alagwa will screen on both Saturday and Sunday at the Palm Springs Film festival and will be shown in April in Italy.
