BAKERSFIELD, CA — It was a packed house full of Democrats at the Kern Labor Hall in Bakersfield, California.
Many were here for Fil-Am Democrat TJ Cox, who was running for a seat in the House of Representatives.
Cox knew he was the underdog against Republican incumbent David Valadao — and as the hours continued into the night — the odds proved true.
With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, Valadao defeated Cox 35,416 votes to 30,577.
Despite his loss, Cox still enjoyed the overwhelming wins by the Democrats in taking back the House — especially by women of color.
