REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – If you are among 2,000 immigrants who were issued three-year work permits under President Barack Obama’s expanded deferred action for childhood arrivals program or DACA, the government wants them back.
Three-year DACA work permits issued after a Feb. 16, 2015 court injunction have to be returned to the Department of Homeland Security by this Friday July 17, 2015.
Two months ago, lawyers from the Department of Justice revealed that the DHS committed violations by sending out two thousand three-year work permits.
The issuance of three-year work permits under Obama’s expanded DACA is still being questioned in court after a Feb. 16 injunction.
What’s currently authorized are two year-permits, not three year permits.
Failure to return the work permits by the deadline without good cause, may affect their deferred action and employment authorization.
