REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – To celebrate the two year anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, in collaboration with Claremont Graduate University, has published a study looking at the economic impact of DACA.

DACA gave immigration relief to once undocumented youth.

The study says that DACA has helped young immigrants generate $4.24 billion dollars in new wealth.

The DACA recipients also generate over half a billion dollars in tax revenue in the US.

Over 600,000 youth have applied for the relief. The application process also gave the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services an additional $280 million dollars in revenue.

The financial situation for DACA recipients has gotten better during initial applications in 2012 – only 42 of those applicants reported an income.

Now in 2014, 83 percent of returning applicants have reported an annual income average just under $15,000 dollars.
