REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Victories for marriage equality supporters in States with large Filipino populations.

“I am proud that the Commonwealth of Virginia is leading on one of the most important civil rights issues of our day,” said Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring.

A three judge panel at the US Circuit Court of Appeals struck down Virginia’s ban on same-sex marriage on Monday.

The court found that the ban violated the United States Constitution.

Virginia’s ruling follows two decisions this month from Florida Circuit Judges who also ruled the state’s same-sex marriage ban was unconstitutional.

The Virginia case could ultimately end up in the US Supreme Court, while the Florida case could go to the state level Supreme Court.

Same-sex marriage is now legal in 19 US States plus the District of Colombia.
