Conservative Republicans cheer on President Trump’s State of the Union

LONG BEACH — In the more conservative pockets of Southern California, Republicans reacted with cheer to the president’s speech.

Long Beach-area Republicans threw a State of the Union watch party to see what the president had to say.

Over a hundred people gathered around ten screens, cheering on the president as he talked about some of the accomplishments.

Among the most popular topics for this crowd include the economy and clean energy.

The President’s call for an end to illegal immigration was among the most welcomed remarks, especially when it was about the border wall.

At times the crowed booed when some of the president’s opponents flashed on screen.

Among those in the crowd was Rachel Gunther, the LA County chair for Trump’s 2016 campaign.

She’s planning to be a part of the 2020 re-elections, and believes many of the president’s talking points have debunked some of the negative perceptions against him.

The group also hopes to repeal several California measures including the gas tax and sanctuary city law, while trying to push for Republican candidate’s in upcoming special elections.

Several seats for the California state legislature will be up for grabs in the spring.

California Republicans which lost several congressional seats to Democrats during the midterms will hold their state convention at the end of this month in Sacramento.
