Congressional Democrats approve resolution to limit Trump’s ability to wage war against Iran

TOLEDO, OH — Speaking before supporters at his first campaign rally for 2020, President Donald Trump touted a stronger military under his watch — as he continues to defend his order to have Iranian general Aassem Soleimani killed in a U.S. airstrike, which led to a retaliation by Iran — including missile attacks on military bases in Iraq housing U.S. troops.

Trump accused Soleimani of organizing the Iran-backed groups’ violent protests at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, earlier this month.

In Washington DC, House Democrats believe the president overstepped his authority by launching the drone strike that killed Soleimani.

The House passed a resolution last Thursday to stop the president from escalating tensions in the Middle East into a full-blown war with Iran.
