LOS ANGELES – As Manny Pacquiao continued his strength and conditioning training with a Wednesday morning Griffith Park workout, he has smoothly adjusted to the time and weather.
While he works out with assistant coach Buboy Fernandez and strength and conditioning coach Justin Fortune, the team’s head coach celebrated his birthday across the Pacific.
Coach Freddie Roach turns 55 years old on March 5. Roach is in China with Zou Shiming, the former Chinese Olympic gold medalist looking to win his first world title in Macau this weekend.
“Happy birthday. Happy birthday to Freddie. I wish him all the best and more birthdays to come,” greeted Pacquiao as he exited Tuesday’s practice.
“Happy birthday coach and more more meaningful birthdays to come and good health,” added Fernandez.
With the reigning Trainer of the Year still in China, and hoping to bring back another world title for his stable, Coach Buboy has been overseeing the workouts.
“I’m doing by job lang, in the meantime Freddie’s not here. Just like the captain, we are copilots just keeping the training. And when the captain arrives, he’s surprised the champ is in the condition,” said Fernandez.
