Christian Louboutin’s latest handbag is inspired by sights and sounds of the Philippines

BA gets an exclusive sneak peak at fashion icon Christian Louboutin’s latest handbag, inspired by the diverse cultures and traditions of the Philippines, days before its global launch.

Ron Barajas, general manager at San Francisco’s Saks Fifth Avenue, says the totes are inspired by Louboutin’s experience with Manila traffic.

“This is the third in Christian Louboutin’s series of treasure totes, as he calls them. He was stuck in traffic, Manila’s famous traffic, and sitting around and looking at all the different jeepneys, he thought ‘wow what a really interesting, colorful experience, and how do I take that and bring that to life,” said Barajas.

And that Louboutin did — bringing to life a limited one thousand bags worldwide.

There are two versions of the Manilacaba: he denim tote, and the black satin.

These treasure totes don’t just represent fashion and style. They are said ‘to stand at the corner of creativity and charity,’ because with every Manilacaba purchase at Saks, 10% of the price will benefit the women of the ASEAN initiative.

Saks will be hosting a launch party, where the bags will be on sale and open to the public at their San Francisco flagship on Thursday, May 10th.
