REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – A popular women’s pop culture website named Filipina vocalist Charice among its “30 Under 30: Queer Women to Watch”.
Ellen.com cited Charice’s rise to pop stardom as a teenager and her coming out as lesbian at age 20 to her fans.
On her coming out, Charice told the website that she owed it to herself to be herself and did not want to be depressed anymore.
Charice is currently on tour in the United States.
Last weekend, she performed at her first American gay pride celebration in San Diego, Calif.
During the concert, she told the crowd, “Thank you so much for having me, this is my first time and hopefully I can come back. Some of you might be wondering, is that Charice? It was always amazing performing back then, but today, performing like my real self in front of you guys is the best performance ever.”
Way to go Charice. Love you.
