LACOMBE, Alberta – Residents of Lacombe of all ages knew what they needed to do to become the largest human Christmas tree and break the world record.
Their unofficial count reached 899 people, enough to beat the record of Thailand of 852 set on Nov. 22, 2013.
“I think we’re going to have more people than expected because Lacombe is a great community and everyone would love to support things like this,” Kendra, a resident, said. “I think we’re going to stick around for as long as we need to to make this thing work.”
Lacombe, with a population of over 11,000, became a city in 2010.
In 2012 a corn maze at Kraay family farm was named the world’s largest functioning quick response or q-r code by Guinness world records.
The world record still has to be verified and declared official once Guinness has finished reviewing the records and video footage from the event.
