California students return to school after Camp Fire devastates homes, but not spirits

CHICO, CA — It has been a month since the deadly Camp Fire, and kababayans who were devastated and displaced are trying to return to normalcy.

Children have started to go back to school, but for many of them the transition is proving to be somewhat difficult.

Close to 5,000 students were displaced in Butte County, where many communities are still trying to recover from the Camp Fire.

Paradise City — the hardest hit by the fire — had 12 school programs at nine locations.

Only Cedarwood elementary was able to host students at its original location.

The other students were relocated to neighboring Chico, Durham or Oroville.
