CA SENATOR PLANS TO INTRODUCE BILL ON LIMO SAFETY

Redwood City, Calif – The limousine fire in San Mateo sparked action from a California senator who wants to make limos safer. California State Sen. Jerry Hill announced his plans today to introduce a bill that would require fire extinguishers in the passenger compartment of every limousine in the state.

The Public Utilities Commission, which regulates limousines said, the limo involved in the deadly fire, that killed 5 women who were trapped in the passenger compartment, was not required to have fire extinguishers on board.

Currently there’s no law that requires limousines to carry fire extinguishers and laws requiring emergency exits only apply to buses.
