LOS ANGELES – Manny Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz and promoter Top Rank CEO bob Arum have confirmed that the Pacman’s shoulder is injured and will need surgery this week. Pacquiao had re-injured his right shoulder during his bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Pacquiao had been battling an injury he suffered in training camp several weeks ago, but was denied a numbing injection before the fight. Recovery for the surgery will take 9-12 months.
Although Pacquiao says it will take about six months for the recovery and cannot give immediate comment regarding boxing future. He adds that the shoulder injury is part of an athlete’s life.
According to Pacquiao, the injury was originally from a jet skiing accident in 2009. It was aggravated during this past training camp for Mayweather.
