Filipino American Gina Ortiz Jones has been nominated by President Joe Biden as Air Force Under Secretary.
If confirmed, Jones will be the first woman of color and first Fil-Am to hold the agency’s number two post.
Jones is an Iraq war veteran who served as an intelligence officer in the Air Force from 2003 to 2006.
After leaving the Air Force, she advised on military operations in Central and South America.
She likewise joined the Defense Intelligence Agency and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.
Jones was also the democratic nominee for Texas’s 23rd Congressional District in 2018 and 2020.
