REDONDO BEACH, CA — Miss Binibini Pilipinas USA 2017 Nikki Zulueta won the crown in front of a star studded crowd.
The Fil-Am from Northridge recently graduated in Civil Engineering and will be taking her Master’s at UCLA.
She wasn’t expecting to take home the crown.
“Actually graduated college this year, and I wanted to do something that was out of my box. Out of my comfort zone, and something that I really wanted to do,” said Zulueta.
This is the fifth year of the annual pageant, where contestants from throughout the US spend months bonding and training.
“It’s been amazing but definitely hard, hard work working out dieting, practicing Q and A, all these girls have been doing such an amazing job. I’m so proud to be with them,” she shared.
This year’s event which will air on TFC brought in a blend of Hollywood and Philippine showbiz stars.

“It shows the breadth of talent and of intelligence, in terms of the Filipino women here in America,” said actor Reggie Lee. “So I’m excited to kind of see that and I don’t even want to judge that — if you know what I mean, I think they’re all very gorgeous and beautiful.”
“Siempre masaya ako. Masaya ako talaga it’s something nakakaproud to see Filipino Americans coming together for something great,” said KC Concepcion.
While the pageant celebrated its five-year milestone this month, it’s also going to change its name next year to Miss Filipina International.
Only a few contestants get crowns and a few more bring home sashes — but to be among the stars, celebrating Filipino beauty and culture, all 30 of the contestants can consider themselves winners in their own way.
