Arizona Filipino community honors the late Sen. John McCain

Six-term U.S. Senator John Sidney McCain III passed away last Saturday in his ranch in Sedona, Arizona, with his family at his bedside. His death came after a year-long battle with brain cancer.

The 81-year-old senator was a decorated veteran who served in the U.S. Navy in the Vietnam War, before serving the United States as a politician for more than 30 years. He lost the bid to become the 44th president to Barack Obama in 2008, and the Republican primary to George W. Bush in 2000.

Both former Presidents Obama and George W. Bush will eulogize McCain, while president Donald Trump will not be invited to his funeral.

The Asian community in Arizona held a vigil to honor this American hero last Sunday.

Marie Cunning, president of the Federation of Filipino American Chamber of Commerce said McCain will always be remembered with respect, and gratitude.

Half raised flags are seen around Arizona, as the state mourns the passing away of a Maverick, an American war hero, a senator, a father, and a friend to many, including Asian Americans here in the valley.

Half raised flag at the White House, to honor the passing away of Jonh McCain. But, Jonh McCain last wish had POINTEDLY EXCLUDED Trump from attending his funeral.

Never carry Bitterness and Hatred into your grave,…. the children will suffer,…. asked for reconcillation and forgiveness…. WH was insulted on the his last wish, only Bush and Obama were invited. In my opinion, this is what to expect on future Trump campaign about Healthcare, you will hear this many, many times…; “Because of ONE VOTE, on the last minute he said NO, Obamacare should have been repealed.”….Where is the closure.

When John McCain was released from the Vietnamese prison camp, he was first taken to Clark Air Force base the Philippines for immediate treatment, according to ninong Efren Pangilinan and tito Joel “badaf” Balatbat-both were civilian police at Clark AFB. TODAY, the U.S. flag is at half mast to honor John McCain passing. If you do know this, then you should eat some more Filipino rice…
