Apl.de.Ap, Bill Clinton honored at NY gala

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Former President Bill Clinton and Fil-Am celebrity philanthropist Apl.de.Ap were among those honored by the Happy Hearts Foundation Thursday in New York.

In a tribute to the 10th anniversary of the Indian Ocean tsunami of 2004 at the Cipriani in New York City Thursday, Clinton received the lifetime achievement award at the Happy Hearts Fund Gala, a non-profit founded by Petra Nemcova.

Nemcova is a Czech model, TV host, philanthropist, and a survivor of the 2004 tsunami in Thailand.

Meanwhile, Black Eyed Peas’ Apl.de.Ap and Will.i.am also received the Spirit Award in recognition of Apl.de.Ap’s charitable works in the Philippines.

“It’s a pinching yourself moment,” Apl.de.Ap said. “I’ve never envisioned this from farming in Sapang Bato. Now I’m here to like receive an award with Former President Clinton. It’s a big deal. I can’t wait to talk about our country the Philippines and spread the word.”
