LOS ANGELES – One of hip hop’s most high-profile Filipinos is back in the studio with the other members of Black Eyed Peas.
Apl.de.ap, along with Will.i.am and Taboo, will be a part of the NBA, recording the opening credits for the playoffs.
“It’s cool man. It’s fun we did that in New York. Got a great time filming the video and thank the NBA for having us do the theme song,” apl said.
The life-long LA Lakers fan is disappointed that his team, which include Filipino-American talent Jordan Clarkson, is not in the playoffs.
Another Filipino is also missing from the playoffs, Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra.
“Yeah, but we got boxing this year. Super Bowl, baby! Super Bowl status!” said Apl. “My team (Lakers) is not around, haha. LA baby in still LA even though.”
With all the fight hype over the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather match, the Grammy Award-winning musician has been joining the boxing superstar on morning workouts in between recording sessions with the Peas for their new album.
As for May 2, “The Voice of the Philippines” coach said he will be in Las Vegas celebrating the Fight of the Century with or without a ticket.
