Alleged Pinoy dog killer admits to enjoying it

LAS VEGAS – A 22-year-old Filipino man faces felony or misdemeanor charges for allegedly slashing the throat of his family’s dog — just for the thrill of it.

According to the arrest report, Jeremy Espirtu admitted to authorities that he likes to hurt dogs, even if he is not being attacked or provoked by the dog.

The police report cites Espiritu saying, “I just wanted to stab the dog, so I sat on the floor and cut its neck.”

On the day of the arrest, officers found a six-inch serrated knife in the center of a puddle of blood near the kitchen.

A judge ordered a psychological assessment for Espiritu.

Court records state that Espiritu was previously arrested in North Las Vegas for possession of methamphetamine and carrying a concealed weapon.

If convicted he could face up to four years in prison for torturing or maiming an animal.
