Alaska Community mourns OFW beaten to death

A family and the Filipino community is mourning the death of an overseas Filipino Worker. 

Maryann Creighton the sister of Ferdinand “Jojo” Marquez, a seasonal fisherman who was brutally beaten to death late last month has arrived in Alaska from California…

According to the Anchorage Daily News, Marquez had no permanent home in Alaska, and had lived in the streets while supporting his family in the Philippines. 

Marquez would also travel to work and live with his sister in California. 

A memorial was held for him over the weekend and Filipino community in Alaska has set up a memorial fund for the family. 

Four men have since been charged with Marquez’ death in where police believe he was beaten to death while he was sleeping on the street.
