REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – The Philippines’ request for immigration relief known as temporary protected status is gaining momentum at the State Department, according to Filipino community advocates.

TPS would allow hundreds of thousands of Filipinos with expiring or expired visas to temporarily stay and work in the US while the Philippines recovers from Typhoon Yolanda.

TPS advocate and Migrant Heritage Commission Executive Director Attorney Arnedo Valera said Philippine desk officer David Arulanantham at the US Department of State reportedly confirmed that factors and considerations surrounding TPS for the Philippines have already been discussed.

The State Department’s recommendation for TPS is now reportedly at the desk of Secretary John Kerry, waiting for his review and signature.

If and when it is signed, the recommendation will then be forwarded to the Department of Homeland Security.

Valera also told Balitang America that historically, DHS follows the Department of State’s recommendation.

One Baby Boy policy seems possible to happen first before TPS can be awarded, illegals have every reason to get nervous.

Philippines just offers US forces access to Military base. Is TPS for Philippines included in the Bargain agreement?

It wouldn’t happen this year, because a lot of GOP wouldn’t let it happen! TPS is something they have to learn more about ? How many people from philippines have to stay in America to work to help they family from the Typhoon Haiyan.
