As Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte met with Chinese President Xi Jinping to announce a series of agreements, Filipinos in California hit the streets in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
The memorandum of agreements between the two presidents include educational, agricultural and infrastructure projects.
One of the major deals also involves joint exploration of the disputed West Philippine Sea.
Protestors called this deal unconstitutional.
“The joint exploration is a blatant violation of the Philippines Constitution, that mandates the Filipinos roles for exploration development and utilization of all that fall under the national territory including the West Philippine sea. And Benom rye. It’s a sad day in history,” said Vangie Lara.
