ABS-CBN Foundation raises over P470 million pesos for Yolanda relief

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Many of you helped ABS-CBN foundation raise funds for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.

ABS-CBN Foundation spoke before community leaders at the San Francisco Consulate recently and announced that as of Sept. 30, 2014, total donations equaled to over P470 million pesos.

Twenty-eight percent of the donations went to immediate relief like food and clothing to the victims, while the other 72 percent went to long-term rehabilitation efforts like the rebuilding of schools.

Philippine officials applauded ABS-CBN Foundation’s efforts to help the most devastated kabanayans.

“We have revived the banig industry, which is the weaving, the mat weaving industry in Samar,” said Joann Kyle, managing director of ABS-CBN Foundation. “We also have given out so many fishing boats and organized the fisherman so that they are not only fishing for their own but also fishing so they could help the community as a whole. … We wouldn’t have done all what we were able to do in Tacloban without their help. So maraming, maraming salamat kapamilya.”
