NEW YORK CITY — ABS-CBN star Zanjoe Marudo took home his first ever international Emmy award nominee medal, for best performance by an actor in the “Anino” episode of ABS-CBN’s drama anthology MMK.
“Thank you for making this a journey of a lifetime,” he said. “God is great!”
His portrayal of Victor – a father going through a mental disorder known as paranoid schizophrenia — earned him the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences nod.
“Eto na, talagang nominated na ako para sa best actor sa internationl Emmys, and ang sarap ng feeling na kasama mo lahat ng mga magagaling na artist around the world.”
“Schizophrenia is not usually portrayed in Filipino drama, so I did not have a lot of reference. In the end I think I just had to trust my instinct as an actor and as a storyteller.”
Marudo will walk the red carpet at 5 pm, and winners of the 45th International Emmy awards will be announced at the gala at the Hilton in New York.
