Filipino Democrats gear up before Trump presidency

by Steve Angeles, ABS-CBN News

After an intense presidential election cycle, the Pilipino American Los Angeles Democrats (PALAD) held one last gathering before President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.

“A combination of quiet misery, but resolution, resolved to protect our immigrant communities, align ourselves with our leadership in the state,” said PALAD’s Jocelyn Gaega.

“Though we did not win the presidency…we made California bluer, we made it a super majority the leading state in a lot issues,” said PALAD Vice President Grace Barrios.

Filipino Democrats are still counting many of the democratic and local victories, while looking to the 2018 midterms and other local upcoming elections, and hoping that more Fil-Ams can be involved in local elections, not just during presidential election years.

“The work never really stops. A lot of think globally and nationally, but the work really begins at a local level,” said Ryan Carpio, PALAD President. “So I encourage people…who are looking to get civilly engaged to look for us, for Democratic clubs, and for political clubs. Even if you’re not a Democrat.”

While they prepare for a Trump presidency, some are still holding on to some hope for chances of a Hillary Clinton presidency when the electoral college meets next week.

The electoral college will meet on December 19th to formally cast their ballots.

While some electors are calling for investigations to Russia’s alleged hacking, some are hoping that enough electors will change their minds to either give Clinton, or another Republican candidate, the candidacy.

“You never know like they said there were some who didn’t vote… it is a democracy after all,” said Gaega.

While change next week is a long shot, some are trying to help push for ways to update the electoral and voting system in the long run.

“It’s called a national election compact,” said Barrios. “Whoever wins the popular vote will get the states electoral vote. We’re working on that.”

And no matter the official results of the electoral college, Filipinos will be ready to continue the battle on the grassroots level, and at the ballot boxes.

One year before the election Hillary Clinton was the quaranteed winner for President, the Democrats were already preparing to celebrate her coronation as the “Queen” being the first women President. The mainstream media had crucified and nailed Trump into the cross. On election day Hillary, Bill and Chelsea Clinton were celebrating as “Madam President”. Watch Youtube;”Leaked video shows Bill & Hillary Clinton celebrating prematurely on election night”.On the night of the election day Trump rose from nowhere and became the President elect. That was a miracle, it was God hands that made him win the election.God saves America from the demonic Democrat progressive, liberals destruction. Filipino Democrats stop whinning, stop crying, move on, think for a better future for the next 8 years.Hillary will never be a President she will be be old after 8 years. Obama is preparing Michelle on 2018 for CA Senator. In my opinion, nothing will happen on the electoral votes and Russian hacking & Obama made already a deal with Trump, on 2024 Barak dreamt that Michelle will be the first women President..

Look in America we have a lot of illegal Filipinos. So watch what you all do in America, because you will be deported. All we have too do is just call the FBI that we know the Filipinos that are illegal America and they will pick all of you up and “DEPORT” you right out of America. So if I was you all illegal filipino don’t get the Americans mad at you about saying bad things about our new president Donald Trump to be.
