REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – The man accused of kidnapping a 7-year-old Filipina girl in Antioch, Calif. told the court Wednesday he is not guilty.
In a Martinez, Calif. courtroom, 43-year-old David Allen Douglas—who police described as Filipino—pleaded not guilty to six felonies, including kidnapping for sexual purposes with the use of a deadly weapon and the charge of forcible lewd acts.
Douglas’ plea comes less than two weeks after he allegedly snatched 7-year-old Natalie Calvo in front of her mother, as they arrived in front of their house in Antioch on Jan. 3.
Hours later, police located Douglas and the girl inside his car at the Antioch marina.
The girl was quickly reunited with her family.
Douglas’ next court appearance is scheduled for Feb 26.
