6.2 magnitude earthquake hits Alaska

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Kababayans in Alaska were rattled on Thursday morning by a powerful earthquake that shook a large part of the Northern State.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 6.2 magnitude earthquake’s epicenter was 60 miles West-Northwest of Willow.

The earthquake interrupted a news conference being held by U.S. Senate candidate Dan Sullivan.

Officials received reports of minor damage but there were no immediate reports of injuries.

There are 25,424 Filipinos living in Alaska, according to the 2010 census.
