122nd Philippine Independence Day to be celebrated virtually by Filipino Americans

The coronavirus pandemic has forced New York Mayor Bill de Blasio to cancel all traditional city parades in June, including the most awaited 50th Pride March, as well as the biggest Philippine Independence Day parade celebration outside of the Philippines.

But Filipinos in the East Coast cannot wait until fall to celebrate the annual summer tradition.

Beginning June 7, the 122nd Philippine Independence Day celebration will be held virtually on the Philippine Independence Day Council’s official Facebook live page.

Kapamilya top performing artist Martin Nievera, who has graced the much-awaited event in the past, will be featured.

The virtual celebration will also feature performances from 80’s singing group Neocolours, as well as homegrown talents like Jared Martin.
