12 dead from holiday gun-related violence in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — On December 30th, 2017, Las Vegas Metro Police officers were dispatched at 6:30 A.M. to this local casino in northwest Las Vegas.

In a report initiated by the LVMPD homicide section, it was indicated that a female hotel guest called the security office, and advised that the two males with whom she had a dispute with had kicked her out of her room.

Hotel security responded and were shot while inside the room.

Although one of the hotel security guards was armed, she did not draw her weapon. Both security officers were pronounced dead by medical personnel.

The suspect has been identified as 29-year-old Christopher Olague.

Olague shot himself in the head and is now at UMC trauma with a non-survivable wound.


The killings at Arizona Charlie’s Decatur marked the fourth double homicide, and the 5th multiple homicide investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in December 2017.

This incident sparked concerns over security among Fil-Ams in the valley.
