REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Crews in Glendale — home to many Filipinos in the Los Angeles region — spent the day clearing a large oil spill.
The Los Angeles Fire Department says over 10,000 gallons of crude oil has flowed in a half-mile area.
Officials say an above ground oil line broke at around 1 a.m. spewing crude oil twenty feet into the air and coating a half-mile area.
The oil spread knee-deep in some areas.
Officials aren’t sure yet how it happened and are still determining who owns the pipeline.
The fire department says four people at a medical business had respiratory complaints and two women were transferred to a hospital.
